This training session is sold out. Unfortunately, we do not have a wait list. However, the Drupal Association is collecting names for interest in future training sessions.

In this one day class, students will build a Drupal-powered music website that showcases artists, their albums, and their individual songs. Using Fields, Views, and Panels, students will build a custom data model, present it to visitors, and customize its appearance! In addition to learning how these powerful Drupal modules work together, participants will pop the hood and learn how to add new capabilities to Panels with custom plugins. They'll learn how to build new Layout plugins with CSS and HTML; how to build reusable Panels content panes with PHP; and how to create customizable Panels plugins that can be configured by site administrators.

Who will gain the most from this course?

Anyone familiar with Drupal, who wants to get in to the code.

What will you learn?

  • How to solve hard problems.
  • Building advanced views with arguments/relationships and understanding not only how to configure them but how they work under the hood.
  • Using views and panels in conjunction to create complex layouts with content that automatically updates depending on the context in which it’s displayed.

What will you receive during the course?

Any code written during the class or used for demonstration purposes will be made available for download. PDFs of presentations will be made available for download.

Pre-requisites for the course

Students should know PHP and have a basic understanding of how to write custom module’s for Drupal. If you know how to implement a hook you should be fine. Students should also know how to add fields to a content type and create basic Views as we will be building off of these concepts throughout the course of the day.
