Drupal Sports and League Management

Have you every built a site to manage a local amateur sports league with Drupal? Is 'the drop' the engine powering the annual office fantasy playoff draft? Need a quick-and-dirty site to organize the company drinking softball team? Has your great-grandmother just requested you 'internetify' the Thursday afternoon bridge ladder down at the seniors home?

Anyone who has investigated sports and competition modules in Drupal already knows ... there are more than a few options out there, but finding the one that fits your specific use case can be a challenge. And if you want to combine features from two different modules ... good luck.

This situation could be improved if we were to standardize on a common set of flexible sports/league/team/match entities/objects which can be integrated into our individual sports-related modules. By defining and then leveraging a common data structure, we can greatly improve the interoperability between Drupal 7 sports modules relative to the situation we had in Drupal 6. I'm proposing the development of an entity-based central framework that defines the core sports objects and interactions between them, which would be used/extended by other modules in the contrib space.

The purpose of this BoF is to meet and discover other community members who are interested in (or already working in) this space, to solicit interest, requirements, and architectural ideas, and to kick off discussions and development of a single unified Drupal Sports API Initiative.

Interested parties should also consider joining the 'Drupal Sports and League Management' group on g.d.o..

Jeremy, would really like to talk to you about this topic, but have a conflict with a work topic. Can I buy you a beverage and pick your brain? Thanks. @dboeger aka Dustin.

Is there any way to get a overview of what have being discussed here?
