A Drupal social platform for Occupy

Since the Occupy movement broke out last September, a number of us Drupalfolks have been hard at work on a large, Drupal-based social network built specifically for large social movements, particularly Occupy. It's gotten mainstream press coverage in Wired and the Village Voice already, and is pretty well embedded as a known, ongoing project in the movement itself. (Those articles really do give some good background) And if you know anything about how movements work, you know that such buy-in is no small thing.

We've been doing an awful lot of work to define the problem space and goals of the project, and have come a long way towards that in the last few months. In this BoF, we'll explain what the project is trying to accomplish, and how folks can get involved. And we need all sorts - project managers, engineers, frontenders, sysadmins.

We're pushing the envelope a lot with this project - semantic social, online decisioning systems, content federation, nifty devops, and more. It's worth coming even if you're only moderately interested in the Occupy movement.
