The Kit specification was originally created to define naming conventions and configuration component usage guidelines for building Features. Now that Distributions are roaring to life on Drupal.org, it's time to dust off the spec and move it forward once again to help facilitate collaboration and extension of all these Features.

Beyond that, I believe Kit to be the seed of a broader spec in defining configuration/use-case centric modules in general, be they Features, Apps, or CMI defaults. To what extent is Kit the core of standards and practices above the level of code and below the level of how-to documentation?
