Building Drupal Apps for Distributions

Building Drupal Apps for Distributions The Drupal Apps module and the Open App Standard was built to solve a recurring problem: How can we use Drupal to package up functionality in a way that makes it simple to find, evaluate, install, and use for site builders? Apps are built on existing Drupal building blocks - modules, Features, and Kit-compliance - and can be interoperable between different Drupal distributions. But how do you know what should become an App and then how do you build one? In this session, we'll walk you through the process of determining what functionality can be great ideas for an App, why Apps and Distributions are such a great fit, and we will even build one live. By the end of this session we will have contributed the app to a Distribution's app console where it will be ready to be installed by users in a single click. This session is great for developers who are curious about Apps or want to build Apps for Drupal distributions. This session is also informative for site builders who want to see how Apps can help them add functionality to their web sites more easily.
