Drupal Trends in Education: Mozilla Badges, Learning Registry and Data.ED.gov

In this three part talk, Jason Hoekstra, Technology Solutions Advisor from the U.S. Department of Education, will talk about how Drupal is being used for data visualization, resource sharing and electronic badges. First, we'll will talk about a new open-source platform called the Learning Registry and how its used with Drupal to share open educational resources with other web sites and provide feedback data on how they are being used (but not just for education!). Next, we'll talk about how Drupal is plugging into an effort by the Mozilla Foundation to issue electronic badges (like Foursquare) for online activities. Lastly, we'll look under the hood of Data.ED.gov and Partner.HUD.gov to show how Views and other modules where used to quickly build a data visualization portal to support the Open Government Directive.

I'm so sad I'm gonna miss this BoF. This is really interesting for me, but I'm doing a presentation at this time slot. :-/

Will there be recordings or notes that I can take part of?

Absolutely, I'll make sure we type up notes after the session and get online after the event.

We'll fill out more content later, but the main references from this talk:
